Ori Community Guidelines

Welcome to Ori! Ori is a community built on mutual effort, shared values, and real-world experiences. We are all about offlining, getting you off your phone and into the physical world so you can find your Austin crew.

To keep Ori safe, respectful, and supportive, we ask all members to follow these guidelines.

What Ori Is

  • A bridge to the physical world. We optimize for real-life attendance, not screen time.

  • A community of mutual effort. A place where everyone puts in the same energy to make friendships happen.

  • A space for shared experiences. A low-pressure environment where doing an activity together is the icebreaker.

  • An alternative to the performance. No feeds, no followers, no likes, no pressure to curate a perfect image.

What Ori Is Not

  • A place to flake. Our community is built on showing up.

  • A dating app. We are focused on friendship and community. It’s great if you meet someone, but that shouldn't be your primary agenda.

  • A platform for self-promotion. Not a place to promote content, products, or your personal brand.

How to Show Up Here

1. Actually show up. Getting out the door is the hardest part, but it’s the only way real connection happens. We handle the logistics and curate the experience. You just need to bring yourself. If you commit to an experience, honor that commitment.

2. Bring mutual effort. Everyone on Ori is tired of one-sided friendships. We vet for people who value real-world effort. Match the energy of the group, be engaged, and participate in the shared activity.

3. Embrace the awkwardness. Meeting new people in the real world can be intimidating. Be patient with yourself and others. Give people the grace to be unpolished, uncurated, and authentically themselves.

4. Honor boundaries and consent. Respect the physical and emotional boundaries of your fellow crew members. Mutual consent is required for taking photos of the group, sharing contact info, or moving the friendship forward. If someone says no, respect that completely.

5. Be kind, curious, and respectful. Everyone on Ori is here because they want a safer, more authentic way to connect. Treat each person and experience with empathy, curiosity, and an open mind.

Prohibited Behavior

Breaking these rules compromises the trust of the community and may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent removal from Ori.

1. Chronic Flaking and Ghosting. Life happens, but repeatedly bailing on planned experiences ruins the dynamic for everyone else. If you RSVP, you are expected to attend.

2. Harassment, bullying, or disrespect. This includes shaming, insults, pressure, manipulation, or dismissive behavior, both in the app and at our physical events.

3. Hate speech or discriminatory language. This covers attacks based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or other aspects of identity.

4. Unsolicited sexual behavior. Ori is not a dating app. Unsolicited sexual remarks, physical advances, or making others uncomfortable will not be tolerated.

5. Impersonation or misrepresentation. You must accurately represent who you are. Fake profiles or fabricating identities to manipulate or deceive others is strictly forbidden.

6. Spam, self-promotion, or commercial solicitation. Do not use the Ori app or experiences as a networking event to sell your products, services, or personal brand.

7. Illegal activity. Soliciting, promoting, or participating in illegal behavior at Ori is strictly forbidden.

If Something Feels Wrong

  • You can leave at any time. If you ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable, you may leave the Ori event or close the chat immediately. You do not need to explain, justify, or apologize.

  • Report the behavior. Report any uncomfortable interactions or policy violations directly in the app.

  • Reports are confidential. Our Trust & Safety Team will review and take appropriate action. Your identity will not be shared with the reported user.

How We Keep Ori Safe

To maintain the integrity of this community:

  • We vet members to ensure they align with our values of effort and attendance.

  • Our Trust & Safety Team may take action against users who violate these guidelines, including temporary suspension or permanent removal.

  • We listen to user feedback following events to ensure group dynamics remain safe and supportive.
